Description
The Fuel EX 5 is a full-suspension trail bike that’s ready to handle it all. With 150 mm front and 140 mm rear trail-taming suspension, a Shimano 1×12 drivetrain, a dropper post for getting low on descents and hydraulic disc brakes, the Fuel EX 5 hits the mark as a high-value, high-performance mountain bike with exceptional versatility.
You’re ready to go full suspension, and you want a versatile trail bike at a great value. You want a ride that’s sure-footed, capable and responsive, so you can stay in control no matter where you’re riding.
A lightweight aluminium frame with progressive trail geometry. A 150 mm RockShox Recon Silver fork with Solo Air spring and motion control damper (140 mm on XS and S), 140 mm of rear travel with an X-Fusion Pro 2 shock, a durable 12-speed Shimano Deore drivetrain, dropper post and hydraulic disc brakes.
You get full suspension performance without the sticker shock. The Fuel EX 5 has the same frame tech and features as its pricier partners, with parts chosen to keep the price tag low and stoke level high.
– The Fuel EX Gen 6 gives you 140/150 mm of travel and slack, adjustable geometry for an extra capable ride, plus, in-frame storage on all models – even alloy
– We expanded our size range to ensure a better fit for all riders, and use the best-fitting wheels for each frame size: XS frames get 27.5˝ wheels, S frames get to choose between 27.5˝ or 29˝, and sizes M and up get 29˝ wheels
– The dropper post lets you lower your saddle on the fly so it’s out of the way on descents
– The RockShox fork’s Solo Air spring can easily be adjusted for a specific rider weight, and it’s lighter than a coil spring
– Its tubeless-ready wheels and tyres will boost traction and help to reduce flat tyres on the ride
Internal Storage
Internal frame storage makes it easy to ditch the pack and still carry your ride essentials.
Active Braking Pivot
Active Braking Pivot allows our engineers to tune how the suspension reacts to acceleration and braking forces independently. That means you get more confident control when you need it most.
Slack or steep, the choice is yours
Install angle-adjust headset cups (sold separately) to tweak the 64.5-degree head tube angle a degree steeper or slacker to your liking – all without impacting your bottom bracket height.
Adjust the sus for full send
Adjust the leverage rate with just a flip of a chip. Ride it in the Less progressive setting for a plusher feel perfect for rugged trails with square-edge bumps. Flip it to More progressive when you’re hitting big features and don’t want to bottom-out, or when you want to run a coil shock.
Size-specific stays
Size-specific chainstays provide balanced handling to keep the ride nimble for smaller riders and improve front wheel traction on climbs for taller riders.
Business at the front, party at the back
Craving the nimble ride of 27.5˝ wheels but don’t want to sacrifice the speed of a 29er? No need to choose. The Fuel EX is mullet-ready, just throw Mino Link into high, toss on a 160 mm fork and get ready to party.
