Trek Madone Project 1 – Kammtail – GB Colours

This impressive Project One Trek was a replacement for a Trek 5 Series with Ultegra, a hard enough act to beat. The rider is using it for competitive triathlons and so was looking for crit-standard handling for the technical parts of closed road racing, whilst really needing that outright speed that comes from buying a light and quick bike.

What we present here is the 700 series carbon (Trek’s top of the line) Madone with semi-aero tube profile and a paint design that we worked up with the customer to represent the Team GB flag. The look was to be dynamic with everything pretty much plain to allow the paint on the bike frame to speak out. And how it works! Chris King’s top of the line R45 hubs are matched to 3.4 Enve rims (that’s a shallower and wider 35mm front rim for stability and steering strength and a deeper 45mm rim for outright aero speed and linear stiffness). The bike puts down its propulsion through a Dura Ace groupset. It has clip on tri-bars available for race days but is generally ridden without. All-in-all a machine to set standards in innovation, aesthetics, weight and top end speed and handling.
